MacEdition is having a pain in the DNS again. As before, you can get the whole site by going to macedition.net instead.

I am supposed to be working on a CSS book. I am working on a CSS book. But I just can't wrap my brain around it today. My brain wants to build an amplifier, build new speakers, rebuild my incredibly ugly couch (thank your stars I don't have a link to that one), and find out how to refit my 1970's Sony DR-11 headphones with modern components (link requested). I think I'd better take my brain for a walk in the park to tire it out some.

Yes. Boxes and Arrows.

And with the clear head of morning I re-examine last night's code problem. Been trying to convert one of the Box Lesson pages to XHTML. Opera6, Netscape6, IE6, IE5.5 all give different results to the code and to variants. All are flat wrong, too.
"I'm sorry Dave, I can't do that."

(Sigh...) I'm am so tired of finding css positioning bugs in Opera that must have shown up in rudimentary testing. Didn't they test it? How did they test it? I can't believe this stuff. The browser is so high quality and then you hit these basic little snags ... it just doesn't make sense.
I suppose I should fill out a bug report. I suppose I might if I wasn't so fed up with finding bugs that should have been caught in 101 level testing, and if they had just once replied to a bug report with "hey, thanks; working on it". But that's the way it is, so somehow I just can't be bothered. Got a deadline to meet here. Plus I need to sleep sometime. Poor attitude, I know.

Oh! You can also spell it as Maywa Denki. (I'm looking forward to being able to search google by uploading an image.)

Nice. Quick, sharp, effective new case. Link opens a new window because the chap's thumbs are downsized full images, which means the intial page-load is about 2 megs.
Other news: the nature of the web being 'view source' and modifying the code of others, a lot of people use my 'upgrade notice' image. Then they forget to put it on their own server. As a result I have a lot of useless refs in my ref log. A lot. Folks... go check your code; you may not know who you are. I don't care if you use that image, I don't care if you make a duplicate of my upgrade explanation page, just for goodness sake put 'em on your server. Bandwidth is kinda tight here.
(It's okay. I'm not mad at you. I just haven't time to individually contact y'all to point out the code slip.)
